If I had a dollar for every time someone told me they eat pretty good in a consult or follow up I’d have hundreds of dollars every year. Their idea of pretty good isn’t good at all.
When the word pretty gets placed in front of good, we can be close to certain there is some work that needed to be done to get to just “good”.
When we ask a prospect to go over a day of eating it’s not uncommon to hear, “Oh today was awful or yesterday was awful,” as if it was a fluke of a bad day of eating. They may not eat awful everyday, but more often than not we can get a good snapshot of habits by just looking at breakfast through dinner.
People don’t know how to eat well or in order to get body composition change. People need nutrition coaching, but it’s the last thing people want to pay for.
They think they got it. Fact is, they don’t, and they don’t want to pay for it.
Yet.
Most people come around eventually after working out and trying to eat well on their own. Frustration kicks in. Even with people that know quite a bit.
Knowing is one thing. Developing discipline is another thing. It’s not easy, and that’s why we offer habits based nutrition coaching.
Habits can be changed, but it takes time, coaching, accountability, and structure. Without these things people are left to their own devices and they usually end up yo-yo dieting.
Just about everyone that joins a gym is joining to workout. They know nutrition is important, but they don’t think they need coaching. It’s not something most people are familiar with. They’ve heard of Jenny Craig, Weight-Watchers, or the thousands of different diets, but nutrition coaching?
Nutrition is 80%+ of your results in the gym, especially as you get older. Most people we encounter tell us they “got it” or they think they can handle it, but they can’t.
They’re at the gym for fitness, not nutrition coaching. At least at first.
Our goal is to help everyone as much as possible and that cannot happen without proper nutrition habits. Some are able to do it on their own, but most people just settle for what they think they know.
We help our athletes develop sustainable nutrition habits with our goal for them to be able to walk it out on their own.
