How To Stay Motivated

Have you ever caught yourself saying, “I’m just not motivated!” If you have, don’t worry, you aren’t alone. We’ve all said it a time or two over our lifespan.

How real is motivation? How does one always stay motivated and is that even possible? Having goals is important and having a “WHY” is usually the driving force behind any motivation.

One might say they are motivated to lose weight upon starting. The reason WHY behind it is to feel more confident, look better and feel better because they currently feel awful. The WHY is more of a motivator that the goal.

Goals are great and they give us a target to shoot at, but I would argue that the WHY behind the goal is more important. Fact is, motivation comes and goes day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute, and even second by second. A simple thought or situation can change our motivation in an instant.

With all of this being said, how does one stay motivated? My best advice is to be an action taker, daily. Don’t let feelings be your guide. Feelings are deceptive and ruin your progress. You won’t always be motivated, but you can always take action on your goals and “WHY”.

Action will yield results eventually. Action takers tend to fall forward, even after executing poorly on some days. The person that shows up to the gym 5 days a week and gives 80% will yield better results than the person that has sporadic attendance.

You don’t have to be perfect, you just have to take action. Action will develop discipline and discipline is developed over time. Be patient, take action, and watch your growth explode.
