Count The Cost

 “And whosoever does not bear his cross, and come after Me, cannot be My disciple. For which of you, intending to build a tower, sits not down first, and COUNTS THE COST, whether he have sufficient to finish it?” Luke 14:28

What would it take to build a tower? While I’ve never built one a handful of things come to mind, such as: Finances, Time, People, & A Plan. I’m sure there is more outside of those and we could flush those 4 out into deeper descriptions.

One can’t haphazardly decide to commit to building a tower. If things aren’t carefully planned and considered the chances of persevering when roadblocks come up are slim to none.

In biblical times they weren’t privy to the resources we have today and I imagine the ingenuity it took to accomplish the building of a tower would blow our socks off.

Health should rank inside the top 5 most important things in life. Yet, as a nation we are becoming more and more unhealthy. The last I checked our obesity rate was in the low-mid 40’s.

Are we counting the cost of our decisions we are making now, or our we putting it off, ignoring it, in hopes we might just get lucky and not succumb to metabolic disease later in life? My fear is that most American’s are doing just this.

It reminds me of my thinking and behavior as a teenager. Invisible, untouchable, in delusion, and not thinking how my decision would affect others or myself years down the road.

We typically don’t see the consequences of our poor health decisions for years or even decades down the road. So my question to you is this: Have you counted the cost with the decisions you are making TODAY?

You might get lucky and live until your 80. You might get heart disease or have a heart attack. The last thing you want to do is look back and regret not doing something sooner.

You have the power to make positive changes NOW. Don’t wait. Consider your loved ones and do it for them. There isn’t a better motivator than wanting to be around for your family & to see your grandkids grow up.
